Classes

What happens in a Blossom Music Tree Class?

Each 45 minute class is a fun structured experience filled with music & movement. We sing, dance and play through a carefully designed sequence of activities including small & large movement, circle dances, focus chants, lap songs, instrument play with shakers and drums, parachute activities, a lively jam session and much more! Every class ends with a lullaby and our goodbye song, creating a consistent and engaging routine that supports your child's musical growth, while deepening the connection between you.

What's your refund policy?

We understand that life with little ones can be unpredictable! While we're not able to offer refunds after registration—since fees are paid upfront to secure your spot—we're here to support you. If your schedule changes, we'll do our best to help you switch to another available class. And if you miss a class, no worries—we offer unlimited makeup classes within the session to give you plenty of flexibility.

Do you provide makeup classes?

Yes, we offer unlimited makeup classes! They have to be scheduled within your currently enrolled session and do not roll over to a future session or revert to a credit/refund. We provide a convenient online makeup scheduler.

What ages are your classes for?

We offer Mixed Age classes from birth through age 4. That means your child can stay in the program until they turn 5. We welcome babies, toddlers, and preschoolers in one joyful, musical learning space!

Why aren't classes grouped by age?

Child development researchers discovered that grouping children of different ages in one class encourages natural, family-style learning, so in 1980 Music Together developed the Mixed-Age music class. Everyone participates at their level. Babies vocalize, listen and observe. Toddlers play and experiment. Preschoolers build confidence as they emerge as classroom leaders. Parents love that everyone, including siblings, can come to class together.

What's my role as a parent or caregiver in class?

You play a huge role! Young children learn best by watching and imitating the grownups they love most. Your voice, your movement, and your enthusiasm in making music are powerful examples for your child. By actively participating, you're showing them that music is safe and fun. It's one of the greatest gifts you can give them!

My child can't sit still. Help!

No worries—we don't expect young children to sit still! Every child learns differently, and many are natural movers who need to wiggle, wander, and explore while they process what they're experiencing. We welcome that! As long as your child is safe, they're free to move around and participate in their own way. You're welcome to join them outside the circle, and if they need a break, feel free to step away and regroup. Then jump back in when you're ready—we'll be here, making Music Together!

My child just sits and watches—are they getting anything out of it?

Yes! Some children are quiet observers and that's perfectly normal. While it may look like they're not participating, they're often absorbing everything around them—watching, listening, and processing in their own way. Trust their process! Over time, with the consistency of weekly classes and familiar faces, you'll likely see your child begin to participate more actively—often first at home, then in class. Every child engages in music differently, and we celebrate them all!

My child isn't following along—should I be concerned?

We don't expect them too! At his age, it's completely normal for children to explore in their own way. Our classes are structured, but intentionally informal to support different learning styles. Young children often need time to observe, experiment, and process before they participate directly. There's no 'right' or 'wrong' way to engage. The best thing you can do is keep modeling the activities—your child is watching and learning more than you think!

Can I have my phone in class?

As long as your phone is on silent! We know life gets busy and sometimes we have to check our phones for urgent matters, but please keep it quick! Pictures: It's ok to snap a quick photo during class, but please no long videos. Music Together materials and music are copyrighted.

I have two children under 5. Can I enrolled them both?

Yes, in fact we encourage this! We are a family music class where siblings can participate together.

I can't sing in tune. Will I ruin my child?

Not at all! To your child, your voice is perfect because it's yours. Young children take their social & emotional cues from you, so when you sing confidently (even off-key!), you're showing them that making music is joyful and safe. You won't affect their ability to sing in tune. You'll be giving them permission to explore their own voice with confidence.

Outdoor FAQs

Do outdoor classes have shade?

Shade isn't fixed, but our outdoor rug is movable, so we adjust our setup to follow the shade and stay as cool and comfortable as possible.

What is the parking like?

There is a parking lot at Cottonwood Creek. Since this is a public park, the parking lot can get full at certain times of the day. Before your 1st class, we will send you a parking guide map with alternative places to park in case the lot is full.

What if it rains?

We don't get much rain in SoCal, and classes continue in light drizzle–we'll use the covered gazebo at the park. If weather is more severe, we'll provide alternate class options.

What do I bring to an outdoor class?

We provide large outdoor rug for everyone to sit together on. No blankets needed! A sunhat and sunblock is recommended since these are outdoor classes.
